At Peerless Engineering, every project depends on the people behind the work. In this employee spotlight, we sat down with William Keen, a skilled metal fabricator who has been part of the Peerless team for the past two years. From reading blueprints to building complex weldments, William takes pride in producing high-quality work while continuing to grow in his craft.

Q: What is your role at Peerless Engineering?

A: I work as a fitter and fabricator. My role involves reading blueprints, planning out weldments, organizing materials, and building components as efficiently and accurately as possible.

Q: What does a typical day look like for you?

A: Every day starts with reviewing the job I’m assigned and studying the blueprints. From there, I create a game plan for how to complete the weldment efficiently. Once my workstation is organized and everything is ready, I get to work building.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?

A: I enjoy being able to work with my hands while also using problem-solving skills. Every project requires both physical work and critical thinking, which keeps the job interesting.

Q: What are you most proud of since joining Peerless?

A: I’m proud of how much I’ve learned and grown during my time here. I started as an assembler, but because of my welding background, I was able to move into a fabricator role. Becoming a skilled metal fabricator and continuing to improve my abilities has been a major accomplishment for me.

Q: What has helped you grow the most in your career?

A: One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that it’s okay to ask for help. Earlier in my career, I was hesitant to admit when I didn’t know something. Over time, I realized that asking questions is one of the best ways to learn and improve.

Q: What skills are most important in your role?

A: Attention to detail is critical in fabrication work. Being able to accurately read blueprints and measurements makes a huge difference in producing quality weldments.

Q: What do you like most about working at Peerless?

A: The work environment stands out to me the most. There’s flexibility, supportive management, and the workflow throughout the shop is organized well. The team also brings a wide variety of skills and experience, which makes the workplace unique.

Q: What motivates you to do your best work?

A: I’m motivated by the desire to continue improving as a fabricator. I always want to become better at what I do and continue building more advanced projects.

Q: What’s been one of your favorite experiences at Peerless?

A: One of my favorite memories was going on an assembly trip to a working quarry to see our equipment in operation. It gave me a better understanding of how our customers use the equipment and the level of quality they expect from us.

Q: What do you enjoy outside of work?

A: Outside of work, I enjoy fishing, hunting, spending time with my family, and playing music. I play guitar and sing in multiple bands.

Q: Where do you see yourself in the future?

A: My goal is to become a top fabricator and be capable of building anything that comes through the shop.

At Peerless Engineering, employees like William help drive the quality and craftsmanship behind every project. His commitment to learning, attention to detail, and pride in his work reflect the values that make Peerless a trusted name in the industry.
